This Saturday, Le Mans largely won against Élan Béarnais, SLUC Nancy beat Cholet Basket while Gravelines-Dunkerque, Paris and Nanterre lost to Limoges, Dijon and Le Portel.
This Saturday evening as part of the 19th day of Betclic ELITE, Le Mans largely won (97-75) against Élan Béarnais. Carried by an excellent Josh Carlton (25 points, 39 evaluation), the Manceaux delivered a real offensive recital this Saturday. For its part, SLUC Nancy dominated Cholet Basket in Gentilly (83-80). Limoges took revenge on BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque (78-61). At the same time, Paris fell on the Dijon floor (99-88) and Le Portel performed well by winning at Nanterre (83-87).
Nancy pin Cholet to her hunting board
Slapped on the outward journey, SLUC Nancy gave back to Cholet this Saturday evening in Gentilly. Completed with the qualification of Khalid Boukichou, Sylvain Lautié’s men manhandled Cholet and won (83-80) at the end of the suspense after leading by 19 points. On the mark, Stéphane Gombauld (13 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 blocks and 2 steals for 23 evaluation) and Frank Mason (15 points, 1 rebound and 2 assists) did the job to lead the Nancy to victory while on the Cholet side Dominic Artis (18 points at 3/7 at 3-point range and 7/9 at free throws, 3 rebounds and 5 assists) and TJ Campbell (13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists) played their score perfectly but could not avoid the defeat of their team while Enzo Goudou-Sinha was particularly discreet for his return to Lorraine (5 points and 1 assist in 15 minutes of play).
Dijon’s incredible comeback
At halftime, the Nenad Markovic team was badly on board. Led by 19 points (58-37) at the Palais des Sports Jean-Michel Geoffroy, the JDA Dijon was able to completely reverse the course of the meeting by carrying out a second part of the meeting of fire with a terrible 55-22 to win 99 -88. David Holston shone (25 points in 24 minutes), while Markis McDuffie signed a nice double-double (18 points and 15 rebounds). With this victory, the Dijonnais take advantage of the defeat of Cholet to move up to third place and gain confidence before the reception of SIG Strasbourg on Tuesday in BCL.
Worrying defeat for Nanterre
If Ray McCallum (28 points on 10/15 on shots, 3 rebounds and 5 assists) delighted the supporters with a superb performance for his first at Maurice-Thorez, he would have had to be less alone to allow Nanterre to win against Portel (83-87). Pascal Donnadieu’s men completely plunged during the meeting, the fault of a very good Nadir Hifi, author of 20 points and 4 assists, well assisted by Terry Allen (17 points). With this defeat, the Ile-de-France residents will therefore have to fight to maintain it while the Stellistes do the right thing and get out of the relegation zone.
Josh Carlton and Le Mans sink Pau
Beaten about a month ago in the Pyrenees, the MSB took its revenge this Saturday evening in Antarès against Pau (97-75). Without their pivot Vitalis Chikoko, sick and very little used (5 minutes), the Momentum already had two flat tires during the meeting. A situation which subsequently worsened since Josh Carlton exploded everything (25 points at 11/13, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for 39 evaluation in 25 minutes) to bring down the Béarnais, non-existent before and after the break. With this defeat, Eric Bartecheky’s men slip into the relegation zone and will have to quickly pull themselves together as they will play a capital game against the red lantern, Fos-sur-Mer.
Limoges continues to wean the BCM away
The 10th attempt is still not the right one for Gravelines. The Maritimes did not manage to win this Saturday evening in Beaublanc against Limoges (78-61). After a tough evening in BCL on Tuesday against Galatasaray, the Limougeauds avoided the trap and won to end an infamous month of January. Nicolas Lang was successful (25 points at 10/13 and 4 assists) while the debut of rookie Malcolm Miller is rather successful (7 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist for 8 evaluation in 21 minutes). With this victory, Limoges continues to cling to the Top 8.
